Electrical Commissioning Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform testing activities with Electrical Engineers/Supervisors during pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
• Carry out hands-on electrical testing activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Inspect and verify installation of electrical panels, switchgear, transformers, UPS, battery panels, ferrule tagging, wiring/cable tightness, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment.
• Respond promptly to commissioning punch lists and assist in close-out activities.
• Apply knowledge of isolation, de-isolation, and switching/energization procedures for electrical systems.
• Log services performed and prepare regular progress updates for management.
• Ensure proper use and storage of tools, test equipment, and materials after site activities.
• Strictly adhere to company safety standards, electrical codes, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or vocational training (preferred).
• Valid electrician license in good standing.

Experience:

• Minimum 6 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician.
• Proven experience in Oil & Gas projects and commissioning roles.
• Hands-on experience in switching programs/energization of electrical systems (LV/MV – 415V to 33kV).
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, testing procedures, and relevant equipment.

Other Requirements:

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with local electrical laws, design codes, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Skilled in using manual and power tools, as well as electrical testing equipment.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company safety regulations.
