Electrical Draftsman – Job Description

Position Title: Electrical Draftsman

Department: Engineering / Projects

Reports To: Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

Job Summary

The Electrical Draftsman is responsible for preparing, modifying, and maintaining detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation for construction projects. The role involves creating accurate shop drawings, as-built drawings, and coordination drawings in accordance with project specifications, electrical standards, and local authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical shop drawings, layout drawings, and as-built drawings using AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Develop detailed drawings for power, lighting, low-current systems, fire alarm systems, and electrical distribution networks.
• Coordinate with MEP engineers, architects, structural engineers, and site teams to ensure proper integration of electrical systems.
• Review project specifications, design drawings, and tender documents.
• Revise drawings based on consultant comments, site conditions, and project requirements.
• Prepare single-line diagrams (SLD), load schedules, and panel schedules as required.
• Ensure drawings comply with project standards, electrical codes, and local authority regulations.
• Maintain proper drawing records and document control procedures.
• Assist project teams during project execution by providing technical drawing support.
• Conduct site visits when required to verify dimensions and prepare as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to identify and resolve drawing clashes.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as an Electrical Draftsman, preferably in the UAE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant drafting software.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, and technical drawing standards.
• Familiarity with UAE electrical regulations and authority requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
