Electrical Draughtsman (EPLAN / ELCAD)

The Role
Our Large MEP Contracting Client has a new requirement for a number of well experienced Electrical Draughtsman to join their team in Dubai. Successful candidates will have a proven background as an Electrical Draughtsman specialising in EPLAN and ELCAD for accurate electrical schematics on large scale MEP projects in the UAE and beyond having worked for recognised main or MEP contracting companies previously. This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity, employed by our client. Key Responsibilities: The Draughtsman (EPLAN/ELCAD) is responsible for preparing accurate electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical documentation using EPLAN/ELCAD software. The role supports engineering and project teams by translating design concepts and specifications into detailed drawings that comply with industry standards and project requirements. The Draughtsman ensures drawings are updated, coordinated, and aligned with manufacturing, installation, and commissioning needs • Create detailed General Arrangement (GA) drawings, layout drawings, and assembly drawings for control and protection panels, including cubicle assemblies and sub-assemblies. • Generate detailed fabrication drawings for sheet metal parts, mounting plates, sub-panels, and busbar systems with all necessary dimensions, tolerances, and notes. • Develop wiring diagrams, termination drawings, and cable routing schedules from schematic diagrams provided by engineers. • Prepare comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM) and parts lists for procurement and production. • Ensure all drawings adhere to company drafting standards, client specifications, and relevant industry norms. • Perform drawing updates and revisions as required, maintaining proper version control. • Work closely with Design Engineers to transform conceptual designs and schematic diagrams into manufacturable drawings. • Assist engineers with component placement and layout optimization for accessibility, maintainability, and thermal management. • Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback into drawings. • Maintain and organize the drawing register, project files, and CAD libraries. • Provide clarification and support to the workshop floor regarding drawings during the manufacturing phase. • Visit the production area as needed to understand fabrication challenges and improve drawing clarity. • Prepare detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using EPLAN software • Develop and maintain electrical documentation in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards (IEC, NFPA, etc.) • Create and manage device tags, cable lists, terminal diagrams, and bills of materials (BOM) • Coordinate with electrical engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility • Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes, site feedback, and as-built requirements • Ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and ready for manufacturing, installation, and commissioning • Maintain drawing registers and document control in line with company procedures • Support panel assembly and site teams by providing technical clarifications when required • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements • Assist in standardization and continuous improvement of electrical design templates and libraries in EPLAN

Requirements
Electrical Draughtsman (EPLAN/ELCAD) Experience: • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a draughtsman in a control panel, switchgear, enclosure fabrication, or related heavy electrical manufacturing environment. • Expert user of 2D/3D CAD software. • Proficiency in AutoCAD/EPLAN/ELCAD is essential. • Strong experience in creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings • Good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). • Basic knowledge of electrical components and their mechanical mounting requirements. • Familiarity with control panel construction, sheet metal fabrication processes, and standard electrical enclosure types
