Electrical Engineer – Power Generation (Gas Turbines)

90 contract to direct hire

Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote

Experience Level: 5–20 Years

Location: Houston TX or Denver CO

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in the Power Generation Industry , especially Gas Turbine Generators ? Do you bring a solid track record, excellent communication skills, and hands-on expertise in medium voltage systems and power system analysis tools like SKM or ETAP ? If so, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate electrical engineering for large industrial projects in:

• Midstream gas processing
• Petroleum refining
• Petrochemical
• Upstream oil & gas industries

Apply design expertise in:

• Medium and low voltage power distribution
• Grounding & lighting systems
• Motor controls and variable frequency drives
• Equipment specification and selection

Conduct detailed power system studies:

• Load flow
• Short circuit
• Relay coordination
• Motor starting
• Arc flash analysis
• Collaborate across disciplines including engineering teams, project managers, equipment vendors, and clients.

Technical Skills & Tools

• Proficiency in SKM PowerTools, Arc Flash, or ETAP for power system modeling
• Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and API standards , especially related to hazardous areas

Design experience with:

• Power cable schedules
• Cable tray & duct bank design
• One-line diagrams
• Grounding & lighting systems
• MCC, UPS, control panels, transformers, and VFDs
• Arc-flash and electrical system studies

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Required)
• 5–20 years of industry experience, ideally in Gas Turbine Power Generation
• Strong work history with proven leadership or project contributions
• Experience in Electrical Substation Design (a plus)
• Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal)
