Job Description
We are seeking a skilled ELV/ICT Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical design, tendering, and engineering coordination of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) and Information & Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure for commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.
You will bridge the gap between sales and commissioning by producing detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications for systems including Structured Cabling (Copper/Fibre), CCTV, Access Control, and Audio Visual (AV).
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Produce detailed design drawings (AutoCAD/Revit), schematics, and riser diagrams for ELV/ICT systems
- Perform link loss budgets, PoE power calculations, and wireless coverage predictions (Ekahau/iBwave)
- Select suitable passive and active network components (switches, routers, patch panels, fibre trays)
- Design structured cabling systems compliant with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and BS EN 50173 standards
ELV Systems (Security & Automation)
Design integrated systems including:
- IP-based CCTV (camera placement, storage calculation, retention periods)
- Access Control Systems (ACS): controllers, readers, maglocks, backup systems
- Structured Cabling: CAT6A/7 and fibre (OM4/OS2)
- AV / MATV / IPTV distribution & BMS integration pathways
Tendering & Compliance
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), RFPs, and Scope of Work document
- Ensure compliance with local authority standards and regulations
- Review subcontractor shop drawings for design compliance
Technical Requirements
- AutoCAD (Advanced), Revit (Intermediate), Bluebeam, MS Visio, Excel
- VLANs, Subnetting, IP addressing, Wi-Fi systems, Firewalls
- Copper (CAT6/6A/7), Fibre (SM/MM), termination & testing (Fluke DTX)
- CCTV platforms (e.g., Hikvision, Dahua, Avigilon, Milestone)
- Access Control (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Paxton, Gallagher)
- TIA/EIA 568/569/606, BICSI, BS 7671, GDPR (CCTV compliance)
Additional Requirements
- Strong background in ELV & ICT design for EPC projects
- Able to design ELV & ICT systems for large buildings, educational institutes, hypermarkets, etc.
- Proven track record in large-scale infrastructure or building projects
- Solid knowledge of ELV / low current systems design
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years of ELV/ICT design experience
- Strong knowledge of structured cabling and security systems
- BICSI RCDD (or working towards certification)
- Certifications such as CNCI, Fluke CCTT, or AutoCAD Professional
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
