Employment Litigation Paralegal (Remote Contractor)

HKM Employment Attorneys LLP is a law firm dedicated to protecting employee rights. We currently have an opening for an employment litigation paralegal to assist with our cases in Georgia and Alabama. The position is an opportunity for a remote contractor. The job description for this role includes the following key responsibilities:

• Conducting pre-claim investigations, legal research, and initial case assessments.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate documents and filing them with the court. (federal court filing and employment law experience preferred)
• Performing administrative duties such as calendaring hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and managing logistics.
• Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes.
• Prepping draft documents such as EEOC charges, mediation statements, and demand letters with guidance from attorneys.
• Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
• Aiding attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
• Gathering relevant information from a variety of sources.
• Liaising with trial teams and internal/external third parties.
• Helping with voir dire, jury selection, and witness preparation.
• Providing assistance with case settlements.
• Capacity to review and analyze volumes of document production, and familiarity with use of technological tools that expedite document review.

The ideal candidate for this role should have the following qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a litigation paralegal.
• Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
• High-level organizational aptitude, with the ability to meet multiple concurrent deadlines.
• A professional and collegial demeanor.
• Strong written and communication skills along with attention to detail.
• Extensive computer and database expertise.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Proficient use of MS Word and Excel.
• Paralegal associate degree or other relevant certification.
• A minimum of three years of employment law experience.
• Although position is remote, the position requires the paralegal to reside in Georgia or Alabama to commute to firm's Atlanta, Birmingham or Huntsville offices as needed.
• This position is full-time 40 hours a week, exempt status.
• Pay commensurate with experience.
