Job Overview

Mortellaro Law is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Associate Attorney to join our growing Estate Planning and Elder Law practice, based primarily in our Tampa, Florida, main office. We are a dynamic firm with seven locations across Florida, dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services. This entry-level position is an exceptional opportunity for a recent law school graduate or a newly admitted attorney to launch their career with hands-on experience and significant growth potential.

Ideal Candidate Profile / Basic Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Recently took the Florida Bar Exam and are awaiting results.
  • Recently passed the Florida Bar Exam and is a newly admitted member of the Florida Bar.

Key Responsibilities and Training

The successful candidate will be placed on a probationary period and will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of our practice. Responsibilities will include:

  • Document Drafting: Learning to prepare and meticulously draft a comprehensive array of estate planning documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and advance directives, utilizing Wealth Counsel document drafting software..
  • Case Management: Managing and maintaining electronic client files and workflow efficiently within the ActionStep Legal Management System.
  • Instruction & Compliance: Receiving and diligently following instructions not only from seasoned attorneys but also from senior legal staff on firm procedures and client matters, and ensuring compliance with firm policies.
  • Client Support: Providing support during client meetings and document executions, with an emphasis on professional and clear communication.
  • Operational Proficiency: Becoming proficient in firm operations and client communication protocols across our multi-office structure.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English): Fluency in both speaking and writing in Spanish is required to serve our diverse client base effectively.
  • Teachable and Eager to Learn: Must possess a strong willingness to receive instruction and integrate feedback from all levels of the firm's leadership and staff.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Professionalism: A commitment to the highest ethical standards and client service.
  • Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is expected, with a commitment to learning specialized legal software.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications, and stage of Bar admission/status.
