Estimation Engineer

Key Responsibilities

An estimation engineer's main duties include

  • Cost Analysis: Breaking down project costs into detailed components, such as labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses. They must also account for indirect costs, like overhead, permits, and contingencies.
  • Bid Preparation: Creating and submitting accurate and competitive bids or proposals for potential projects.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and evaluating potential risks that could affect project costs and timelines. They develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Data Analysis: Using historical data from previous projects, market trends, and supplier quotes to inform their estimates. This involves leveraging specialized software and databases.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all project requirements and constraints are understood and incorporated into the estimate.
  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of all estimates, including the assumptions made, data used, and the final calculations.

Qualifications

To be a successful estimation engineer, a candidate should have:

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-5 years of experience in an estimation or a related engineering role in an electrical contracting firm
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, or electrical, depending on the industry) or a related field.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, proficiency in estimation software preferred (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel), excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a solid understanding of project management principles.

  • Kadavanthara, Kochi, Kerala: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
