Job Summary :

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets, and tenders for building construction projects. The role involves quantity take-offs, rate analysis, cost comparison, and coordination with technical and commercial teams to ensure competitive and profitable project bids.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for building construction projects including civil, architectural, and finishing works.
  • Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Prepare rate analysis based on labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor inputs.
  • Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and exclusions.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed project budgets.
  • Analyze historical cost data and market trends to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare cost comparisons and value engineering proposals.
  • Coordinate with project managers, QS, procurement, and engineering teams for inputs related to pricing and construction methodology.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical clarifications.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
  • Prepare and submit tender documentation within deadlines.
  • Maintain estimation records, assumptions, and backup documents.
  • Support post-tender clarifications and negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of experience as an Estimation Engineer in building construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of building construction methods and materials.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in MS Excel and estimation software.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in Qatar building construction projects.
  • Familiarity with local market rates and authority requirements.
  • Knowledge of value engineering and cost optimization techniques.
