Estimation Engineer

Job description:

An Estimation Engineer is responsible for accurately assessing and calculating the costs associated with projects, products, or services. They provide essential information for project planning, budgeting, and decision-making to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation: Develop and prepare cost estimates for various projects, including material costs, labor, equipment, subcontractor fees, and overhead. This involves analyzing project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents.

Data Collection: Gather data on materials, labor rates, equipment costs, and other relevant information. This may involve contacting suppliers, contractors, and industry databases to obtain accurate pricing.

Cost Analysis: Analyze cost data to identify cost drivers, cost-saving opportunities, and potential risks. This includes creating detailed cost breakdowns and cost comparison analyses.

Budget Development: Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to develop and maintain project budgets. Ensure that budgets are realistic and align with project requirements.

Bid Preparation: Prepare cost estimates for bidding on projects, contracts, or tenders. This includes creating comprehensive bid documents that outline the cost structure.

Value Engineering: Evaluate the feasibility of different construction methods, materials, and designs to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.

Cost Monitoring: Track and report on project costs throughout the project's lifecycle. Identify deviations from the budget and propose corrective actions as necessary.

Risk Assessment: Assess potential risks that may impact project costs and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

Cost Reporting: Generate and present cost reports to project stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and project teams. Provide explanations for variances from initial estimates.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimation processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation, preferably in the relevant FM industry.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work with complex technical data.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Optional Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications, such as Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst (CCEA) or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE).
  • Experience in handle Tender / RFQ and BOQ Preparation
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards.

Estimation Engineers play a critical role in ensuring that projects are financially viable, competitive in the market, and executed within budget. They contribute to the success of projects by providing accurate cost estimates and facilitating informed decision-making throughout the project's lifecycle.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
