Polyglot Theatre is a world renowned contemporary theatre company based in Melbourne/Naarm making exceptional arts experiences for children and families from regional Australia to the most prestigious international theatres. We specialise in participatory immersive works that prioritise play, agency and access.

A rare opportunity for impactful leadership

We are looking for an Executive Director & co-CEO who will provide dynamic co leadership as a passionate advocate for the company, building markets for the company's artistic work globally. They must be a collaborative, strategic thinker with demonstrated creative and business acumen.

Purpose of the Role

Together with the Artistic Director & co CEO, this role holds joint responsibility for strategic company leadership, effective business operations, financial viability, and stakeholder relationship management, both internally and externally.

Key competencies and other qualities
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with an Artistic Director & co CEO
  • Strong understanding of the artistic process and a commitment to best practice in the producing of contemporary artworks for children, particularly participatory or immersive theatre
  • Strategic thinking, with ability to devise and lead the development and delivery of Polyglot's strategic plan
  • Proven capacity in developing innovative business and market development initiatives
  • Effective business skills, able to devise best practice operational plans for artistic development, national and international market development, business development, marketing and fundraising
  • Strong track record of developing a wide range of revenue streams
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining purposeful, high value stakeholder relationships
  • Cultural leadership qualities, actively advocating for and supporting the sector
  • Warm collegial leadership style, maintaining a positive working culture across the organisation
  • Hold or be able to obtain a current Working with Children Check, in compliance with Polyglot's Child Safety Policy

The position is a full time role based in Melbourne/Naarm with some national and international travel required.
