Role Purpose: The Expert in Site Coordination plays a critical role in planning, executing, and overseeing the daily operations of archaeological and heritage sites. The position ensures effective coordination among multidisciplinary teams, compliance with preservation standards, and the smooth execution of excavation, conservation, and documentation activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all field operations at assigned archaeological or heritage sites.
- Develop and implement site work plans in alignment with project goals and heritage protection policies.
- Supervise multidisciplinary teams, including archaeologists, conservators, technicians, and contractors.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and heritage regulations throughout site activities.
- Monitor progress and quality of work on-site and resolve operational challenges as they arise.
- Facilitate communication between field teams and central administration, ensuring accurate reporting and timely updates.
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and security of field infrastructure, tools, and equipment.
- Assist in budget planning, procurement, and logistical support for site activities.
- Support in the development of documentation, technical reports, and final publications.
- Actively participate in archaeological survey and excavation activities, including field walking, test pits, trenching, and systematic documentation of findings in accordance with institutional and national guidelines.
