KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
 Develop and execute global fabric sourcing strategy aligned with business growth, covering
all fabric categories (knits, woven, denim, technical fabrics, etc.)
 Build and maintain a diversified vendor network across domestic, Asian, and global mill
partners; conduct regular vendor audits and performance reviews
 Lead negotiations with mills to secure competitive pricing, favourable payment terms, and
priority production slots
 Establish long-term strategic partnerships with key mills while maintaining flexibility for
opportunistic sourcing
Operational Excellence
 Manage end-to-end fabric procurement for 36M+ annual garment production, ensuring
seamless supply to meet production timelines
 Drive speed-to-market initiatives: reduce fabric lead times, establish quick-response
protocols with mills, implement fabric libraries for faster sampling
 Oversee fabric quality control processes from mill inspection to inward QC; establish clear
quality parameters and rejection protocols
 Coordinate with design, merchandising, and production teams to forecast fabric
requirements and manage inventory levels
Cost & Process Optimization
 Achieve year-on-year cost reduction targets through strategic sourcing, bulk negotiations,
and process efficiencies
 Leverage data analytics and advanced Excel modeling for price benchmarking, trend analysis,
and scenario planning
 Implement fabric waste reduction initiatives and optimize MOQs across the supply chain
 Utilize ERP systems to track procurement metrics, manage purchase orders, and generate
real-time reports for C-suite visibility
Team Leadership & Development
 Build, lead, and mentor a team of 10-15 sourcing professionals (buyers, quality specialists,
coordinators)
 Establish clear KPIs, performance management systems, and capability development plans
for the team
 Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
 Bachelor's/Master's degree in Textile Engineering from a recognized university OR
 Degree/Diploma in Fashion Technology, Textile Design, or Apparel Production from premier
institutes such as:
o NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology)
o Pearl Academy
o Other equivalent reputed fashion/textile institutes
Preferred:
MBA or Post-Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Business Management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
 10-15 years in fabric sourcing/procurement, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
 Proven track record in fast fashion or high-volume apparel businesses
 Experience managing large-scale procurement (handling volumes of 20M+ garments
annually)
 Dual expertise: hands-on experience working with both mills/suppliers AND brand/retailer
environments
 Textile Mill experience of at least 3 years
Technical Expertise
 Deep understanding of fabric construction, quality parameters, and technical specifications
(GSM, yarn counts, weave structures, dyeing/finishing processes)
 Strong knowledge of fabric testing standards and quality assessment methodologies
 Understanding of fabric costing structures: yarn pricing, conversion costs, mill margins
Functional Skills
 Advanced Excel proficiency: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modelling, scenario analysis, macro
creation
 ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Infor, or similar) for procurement management
 Strong negotiation and contract management skills
 Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and drive data-backed decisions
Geographic & Industry Knowledge
 Extensive network and relationships with mills across key sourcing hubs (India, Bangladesh,
China, Turkey, Pakistan, Vietnam)
 Understanding of global textile trade dynamics, tariffs, and compliance requirements
 Knowledge of fabric sustainability standards (desirable)
