About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HDPE / PVC Pipe Fabrication Department Supervisor to lead and manage workshop and site fabrication activities. This role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication and welding operations in line with approved drawings, project requirements, and company standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in production planning, quality control, machine management, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
In-House Fabrication Operations
- Supervise and coordinate all HDPE/PVC pipe and fittings fabrication activities within the workshop.
- Ensure fabrication is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and customer requirements.
- Plan daily and weekly fabrication schedules, optimizing manpower, machines, and materials.
- Supervise butt fusion, electrofusion, hot-air welding, bends, saddles, tees, branches, spools, and other fabricated fittings.
- Oversee production of PVC long and short radius bends and other fabricated products.
- Prepare and review HDPE/PVC fittings drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication layouts.
- Develop detailed drawings for bends, reducers, tees, saddles, and special fittings, revising as required based on site conditions.
- Control fabrication quality, minimize material wastage, and ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of materials.
- Supervise HDPE pipe repair works, including leakage repairs, joint rectification, and pipe replacement.
- Conduct root cause analysis of failures and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare repair work estimates covering materials, manpower, machines, and time.
- Manage raw materials and machine inventory.
Site Fabrication Works
- Supervise HDPE pipe welding and fabrication activities at project sites.
- Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of machines, tools, and manpower.
- Ensure site works are executed safely and in accordance with approved method statements.
- Resolve site-related fabrication issues in coordination with engineers and site teams.
- Ensure proper joint alignment, fusion parameters, and cooling times.
- Liaise with Project Engineers, QA/QC, HSE, and client representatives.
- Monitor site productivity, discipline, and progress against project schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure material availability.
Machine Rental & Calibration
- Manage rental HDPE fusion machines, including delivery, inspection, utilization, and return.
- Monitor rental duration, usage, and cost control.
- Ensure all fusion machines are calibrated as per manufacturer and project requirements.
- Maintain calibration schedules, certificates, and records.
- Coordinate with third-party calibration agencies as required.
Audit & ERP Compliance
- Support internal and external audits related to Quality, HSE, and ISO systems.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and project requirements.
- Prepare and present fabrication, calibration, and maintenance records during audits.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for audit findings.
- Use ERP (Oracle Fusion) for work orders, raw material stock, and material requests.
- Ensure accurate and timely ERP data entry and coordination with planning and stores.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain fabrication records, jointing logs, inspection and test reports.
- Prepare daily workshop and site progress reports.
- Ensure proper filing and control of drawings, method statements, and approvals.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies and procedures.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Enforce proper PPE usage and safe machine operation.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Support risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in HDPE/PVC pipe fabrication and welding, with supervisory exposure.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of HDPE butt fusion, electrofusion, PVC fabrication, and repair works.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Experience working in manufacturing workshops and project sites.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred).
- Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of Quality, ISO standards, and HSE requirements.
