Facilities Manager – Lead with Purpose, Serve with Compassion

About the Role
The Facilities Manager provides hands-on leadership for maintenance, groundskeeping, and housekeeping operations across St. Bernardine Home, Our Lady of the Pines, and the Tiffin Road campus. This role reports directly to the Community Director and is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, planning, and continuous improvement of facilities operations.

What You’ll Do
You will lead with both accountability and care - supporting your team while ensuring operational excellence.

  • Direct and supervise maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping teams

  • Plan, assign, and evaluate daily and long-term work

  • Oversee work order systems and preventive maintenance programs

  • Ensure buildings, equipment, and grounds are safe, compliant, and well maintained

  • Collaborate with leadership on emergency preparedness planning and response

  • Manage vendor relationships, contractors, and project work

  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, and budget tracking for facilities operations

  • Provide guidance on repairs, upgrades, and capital improvements

  • Participate in budget development and monitor department expenditures

  • Serve as an on-call resource for urgent facility needs

What You Bring

Required:

  • At least five years of management and technical experience

  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with a employees and external vendors

  • Knowledge of building codes and safety procedures required to manage the operation and safety of the buildings Computer skills that include Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook

    Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree or ten years related work experience.

  • Prior experience as Plant Engineer or Plant Manager

  • HVAC Certification

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or religious organization

  • Understanding and appreciation of the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy

  • Familiarity with the Catholic Church structures and teaching
