Fiber Optic Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician to install, maintain, test, and repair fiber optic cables and related equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality network performance and reliable connectivity for residential, commercial, or industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode).
• Perform OTDR and power meter testing to ensure signal quality and integrity.
• Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic systems and connectivity issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, network diagrams, and schematics.
• Install cable pathways, including conduits, trays, and racks.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, splicing, and testing results.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Work in various environments, including indoor, outdoor, underground, and aerial settings.
• Collaborate with network engineers, project managers, and other technicians.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in fiber optic installation and splicing.
• Knowledge of fiber optic color codes and industry standards.
• Experience using fusion splicers, OTDR, and power meters.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification such as CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalent.
• Experience with structured cabling systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications and networking fundamentals.
• OSHA safety certification.

Work Conditions

• May require travel to job sites.

• On-call or overtime work may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,000.00 - AED4,000.00 per month
