The position

The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan invites applications for the position of Field Engineer based at its Chitral Office, on a contractual basis. The role entails the following key responsibilities and requires candidates to meet the criteria outlined below.

Job Summary (Overall purpose of the job):
The Field Engineer is responsible for on-site supervision, technical support, and monitoring of construction activities under Donor funded Projects. The role ensures that works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, timelines, and safety requirements, while maintaining close coordination with contractors, communities, and the project team.

Key Responsibilities (Core Functions):

Project Implementation & Supervision:
  • Supervise day-to-day construction activities at site and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, workmanship, and safety standards are met.
  • Verify quantities of executed work and support measurement and certification processes.
  • Coordinate with contractors for work planning, execution, and resolution of site-level issues.
  • Monitor progress against work plans and promptly report delays, risks, or deviations to supervisors and the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements at site.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for supervisors and Project Management.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including measurement logs, inspection reports, photographs, and as-built drawings.
  • Support project documentation for audits, compliance, and donor reporting requirements.
  • Assist in community coordination and address technical concerns during project implementation.
Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Liaise with consultants, government authorities, and AKDN agencies.
  • Support procurement and verification of materials delivered to the site.
  • Address community or stakeholder concerns related to engineering works.
Other Duties:
  • Provide technical support during emergencies or project adjustments.

The requirements

Qualifications & Experience:
  • DAE (Civil Engineering) with minimum 5–7 years of relevant field experience, or
  • BSc Civil Engineering with minimum 3–5 years of relevant field experience.
  • Experience in infrastructure, community-based, or donor-funded construction projects preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, quality control, and quantity verification.
  • Familiarity with safety practices and site supervision protocols.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering, construction methods, and site supervision.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project management tools.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Team-oriented with field adaptability
