Finance Assistant

The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state financial regulations. This role requires proficiency in various financial software (especially Microsoft Excel) and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial records. The position is 36 hours per week, with daily hours M-F starting at 8:00 a.m. Excellent benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement, life insurance, and generous leave time. This position requires a self-starter with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, an understanding of accounting principles and standards, strong mathematical skills, at least 2 years of related work experience, 2 years of accounting coursework, and proficiency in Microsoft products (specifically Excel). Duties include:

· Receive, review, and process invoices.

· Count and record daily cash and receipts.

· Post vendor invoices and daily credit/debit card transactions.

· Pay vendors and maintain recurring payables.

· Maintain accurate payment schedules.

· Communicate with vendors to resolve issues and inquiries.

· Reconcile vendor statements and audit for discrepancies.

· Assist with month-end closing and maintain accounts payable records.

· Collect and manage onboarding documents for new vendors (W-9, licenses, insurance).

· Support audits by providing documentation.

· Assist in preparing, reviewing, and processing payroll.

· Maintain organized files and related documentation, both physically and digitally.

Pay: From $20.58 per hour
