Prairie Eye Center is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Finance Associate with a strong foundation in accounting and bookkeeping to support our Finance Director in executing core financial operations. This full-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure financial accuracy, proper recordkeeping, and compliance in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Bookkeeping Functions.
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including accurate data entry, account coding, and transaction posting
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries, including adjustments and accruals
- Assist with month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Track, organize, and maintain financial records in accordance with company policies
- Accounts Payable & Financial CoordinationProcess and track vendor invoices, ensuring proper approvals and coding
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, including payment posting and discrepancy resolution
- Facilitate the flow of financial information between the Finance team and medical billing departmentReconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Support the Finance Director with internal financial reporting, analysis, and documentation
- Maintain organized financial files to support audit readiness and compliance
- Assist with budget tracking and expense monitoring
- Carry out additional finance and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience
- Strong understanding of:General ledger functions
- Basic accounting principles (debits/credits)
- Account reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and data organization), Word, and general office software
- Experience with accounting or practice management software preferred
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in healthcare, medical billing, or multi-location organizations
- Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable processes and financial reporting cycles
