Financial Administrator

The St. John’s staff is a small, committed team that nurtures the church’s mission and ministries within a working environment that values communication, trust, flexibility, health, and mutual support.

We are seeking a part-time financial administrator to oversee the financial transactions and records for both St. John’s Church and Music at the Red Door (a nonprofit concert series housed at the church). The financial administrator is a part-time salaried position and includes benefits.

Duties

Job duties include managing accounts payable and receivable; securely managing financial and personnel information; managing bank accounts and credit cards; overseeing payroll and employee benefits; producing financial reports for internal and external use; sharing office management/daily administration responsibilities with the director of operations; serving as a key resource for the annual budgeting process; working with outside accountants for an annual review/audit and other tasks; and working collaboratively with other staff and parish volunteers to maintain a healthy, transparent, growing, and sustainable organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with bookkeeping and financial management. Experience working for non-profits and/or religious institutions is preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with bookkeeping, accounting, and budgeting processes, terminology, and software. Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with using information technology, and be willing and able to learn new programs and systems. Microsoft Office Suite experience is preferred.
  • Have a flexible, open, service-oriented, and collaborative attitude.

Schedule

The financial administrator works on-site 20+ hours/week (preferably split over four or five days) during posted weekday office hours. Wednesdays are a required work day due to weekly staff meetings. Occasionally and with advance notice, the financial administrator will be asked to attend meetings outside of regular scheduled hours.

Salary and Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, pension plan, health insurance.
