Financial Analyst

Cairo, Egypt

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst with a strong background in financial analysis and loan underwriting to join our team in Cairo. The ideal candidate will support underwriting of complex commercial real estate and small business loans, with a focus on transit-oriented development financing across acquisition, predevelopment, and construction stages. This role will also drive business development initiatives for the organization’s small business loan fund by identifying and cultivating potential borrowers.

The Financial Analyst will prepare investment recommendations to support senior management decision-making and ensure compliance with all loan documentation and regulatory requirements. Prior experience in loan underwriting and extensive knowledge of commercial loan documentation are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, underwrite, and recommend decisions on new loans, renewals, and modifications while ensuring credit quality and soundness.
  • Analyze and interpret financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, leases, and other borrower documentation in a clear and concise manner.
  • Present loan requests to the Loan Committee in a formal credit presentation, including property-level and global cash flow analyses, sources and uses of funds, collateral evaluation, loan structuring, pricing, market analysis, and recommended covenants.
  • Assign appropriate risk ratings based on borrower financial performance.
  • Manage the loan approval process with Committees to ensure compliance with internal credit policies, applicable Egyptian regulations, and accuracy of documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, CFO, supporting staff, and clients to negotiate and finalize loan structures and terms.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant financial and regulatory requirements under Egyptian laws and international lending standards.
  • Oversee post-loan closing activities, ensuring all conditions precedent to closing are accurate and complete.
  • Identify potential risks and early warning signs in client portfolios, industries, and market conditions.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the loan life cycle.
  • Monitor compliance with all loan covenants and ensure proper documentation for credit reviews, audits, and compliance checks.
  • Safeguard the quality, integrity, and accuracy of financial analysis, underwriting, and credit approval processes.

Skills

  • Strong analytical ability with experience in financial data analysis and performance evaluation.
  • Skilled in preparing financial reports, projections, and investment appraisals.
  • Ability to evaluate capital expenditures, depreciation, and overall financial feasibility.
  • Strong knowledge of investment opportunities, market research, and valuation techniques.
  • Familiarity with waterfall analysis, data mining, and business intelligence tools.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance or a related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent certification is preferred, but not required.
