Mid Level Accountant

Cairo, Egypt

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Operations & General Ledger
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and general ledger (GL) entries.
  • Prepare and post journal entries ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, ensuring timely resolution of variances.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations for GL accounts (prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, etc.).
  • Oversee vendor and customer accounts to ensure timely collection and payment cycles.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and local accounting regulations.
  • Support management with variance analysis, expense tracking, and financial insights to guide decision-making.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management reports.
  • Monitor expense allocations, cost centers, and departmental spending.
  • Taxation & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with Egyptian VAT laws, corporate income tax, withholding tax, and social insurance requirements.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, corporate tax filings, and other regulatory reports accurately and within deadlines.
  • Act as a liaison with external tax advisors and government authorities during tax inspections or inquiries.
  • Keep abreast of changes in local tax legislation and assess their implications on company operations.
  • Audit & Internal Controls
  • Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and resolving queries in a timely manner.
  • Implement, monitor, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to company financial policies and ethical standards.
  • Payroll & Employee Settlements
  • Manage payroll calculations in compliance with Egyptian labor laws and tax regulations.
  • Process end-of-service settlements, employee advances, and reimbursements.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accuracy in employee benefits, deductions, and statutory contributions.
  • Systems & Process Improvement
  • Operate within the company’s ERP/accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
  • Identify process inefficiencies and propose improvements to enhance accuracy and speed of reporting.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives and automation within finance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Procurement, HR, and Operations teams to ensure smooth financial processes.
  • Provide financial guidance to internal stakeholders on budgeting, spending, and compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/ACCA/CMA certification preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience: 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 1–2 years in a mid-level or supervisory capacity.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Egyptian VAT, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Solid grasp of IFRS and local Egyptian accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems, with a strong preference for Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
