Financial Controller

Kuwait City, Kuwait

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial control activities in compliance with international accounting standards and internal policies. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective management of financial processes, and supports strategic decision-making through timely analysis, reporting, and budgetary control.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Managerial

  • Contribute to the development of departmental objectives, KPIs, and individual goals for the finance team.
  • Ensure departmental performance targets are met and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Delegate responsibilities, manage attendance and leave schedules, and oversee performance evaluations and training needs of subordinates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, auditors, and financial institutions.
  • Support the preparation and consolidation of annual and projection budgets; present reports and insights to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Review and validate the company’s financial statements and related disclosures to ensure compliance and transparency.

Operational Accounting

  • Oversee and review all accounting entries and transactions to ensure compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
  • Manage core accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely postings to the General Ledger.
  • Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes for timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain updated books of accounts, ensure appropriate recognition of provisions, impairments, and other financial adjustments as per regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee accounts payable operations, including invoice verification, reconciliations, and processing of payments (cheques, bank transfers, cash).
  • Monitor accounts receivable processes, including postings of receipts, debit/credit notes, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with Treasury to ensure timely collections, effective cash flow management, and placement of surplus cash.
  • Ensure the fixed asset register is properly maintained and physical verification is conducted periodically.
  • Approve and authorize financial transactions within delegated authority limits.
  • Supervise the implementation and maintenance of financial systems for accurate and efficient reporting.
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, ensuring smooth audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of all financial records and documentation.

Policies & Reporting

  • Implement financial control policies and procedures to maintain compliance and efficiency.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on financial performance, control activities, and departmental outcomes.
  • Identify manpower requirements and contribute to workforce planning for the finance function.
  • Ensure adherence to HR policies within the department.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification: CPA, CMA, or equivalent (preferred).
  • 9–11 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role within finance or accounting.
