About the Role:
The Financial Controller is responsible for strengthening and safeguarding the company’s accounting foundation as the business scales. This role ensures that financial records accurately reflect business reality, comply with IFRS and Egyptian Accounting Standards, and are supported by robust processes, systems, and internal controls.
The Financial Controller acts as the technical accounting authority, setting standards for how transactions, products, and processes are accounted for across the company, while partnering closely with Finance, Data, and Product to ensure accounting integrity, automation readiness, and auditability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and continuously enhance accounting policies, procedures, and finance manuals aligned with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Ensure all business activities comply with IFRS and Egyptian Accounting Standards, providing guidance on new or complex transactions.
- Review business processes, product structures, and new initiatives to determine correct accounting treatment and ensure consistency across the company.
- Serve as the go-to expert for complex, judgment-based accounting matters and provide clear guidance to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Design, implement, and enhance internal controls to ensure reliable reporting, clean audits, and strong financial governance.
- Partner with Finance Systems and Data teams to ensure automation logic, system configurations, and data flows align with approved accounting standards.
- Lead accounting-related discussions with external auditors, addressing policy interpretation, judgments, and control-related matters.
Key Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Senior Auditor at a top-tier audit firm.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and Egyptian Accounting Standards (EAS).
- Proven ability to apply accounting standards to complex or non-standard business models.
- Experience working with financial systems, automation, or data-driven environments is a strong plus.
- Prior to fintech or regulated-industry experience is beneficial but not required.
