Job Description - Financial ControllerCompany: Advanced Asset Management
Reports To: CEO / Managing Director
Hours: Align with U.S. Central Standard Time (CST)
Position OverviewSeeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This role will manage a small team, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, produce accurate financial reporting, and maintain internal controls.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial ReportingOversight-
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes across multiple properties.

Prepare consolidated financial statements, variance reports, and management summaries.

Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and FASB standards.

Review property-level financials, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow.
AuditCompliance-
Manage audit preparation, review workpapers, and coordinate with external auditors.

Maintain compliance with loan covenants, tax filings, and entity-level reporting requirements.
CashBudget Management-
Oversee cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations, and capital calls.

Manage owner distributions, security deposits, and loan draw schedules.

Support annual budget creation and variance monitoring.
Process ImprovementSystems-
Strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.

Ensure team consistency in reconciliations, journal entries, and property-level reporting.
Cost Accounting / Cost Control-
Understanding of cost allocation and overhead absorption

Ability to drive expense efficiencies and margin improvements

Analyze unit economics, break-even, and ROI metrics
Advanced Financial ModellingForecasting-
Ability to build and maintain multi-scenario financial models

Strong budget vs. actual variance analysis and rolling forecasts

Sensitivity, scenario, and stress testing
Team Leadership-
Supervise offshore accounting staff

Review team deliverables and ensure adherence to timelines and accuracy standards.

Provide mentorship, training, and process documentation for accounting operations.
Qualifications-
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CMA preferred).

5-8 years of progressive experience in accounting; 3+ years in a Controller or Senior Accountant role.

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and real estate/multifamily accounting.

Experience with any property management software (e.g., Entrata, Yardi, ResMan)

Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, variance analysis).

Excellent English communication and ability to work cross-functionally with remote teams.

Strong leadership and organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and process discipline.
