Overview
Our small town family owned and operated business is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial management, and compliance, while driving strategic financial planning. Responsibilities
- Manage comprehensive accounting functions including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Lead the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee regulatory reporting obligations for government agencies.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and ensure accuracy in financial data through meticulous account analysis and double entry bookkeeping practices.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to policies related to non-profit accounting, governmental accounting, and public accounting standards.
- Lead cash management activities including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and optimizing banking relationships using internal financial software.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis to support strategic decision-making; communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Drive budgeting processes and monitor variances to maintain fiscal discipline across departments.
- Support technical accounting initiatives including complex transactions under GAAP or IFRS frameworks.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely completion of audit procedures.
- Reconcile floor plans and work with floor plan auditors to locate and pay off sold inventory.
- Perform general office duties such as filing, ordering supplies, bank deposits, mailing of monthly statements and more.
- Must be able to process retail finance contracts, track credits, submit settlements to multiple vendors and more.
- Perform basic Human Resources tasks such as: Payroll submission, monitor staff overtime, paid time off, sick time, vacation days; compile new hire documentation and other related tasks.
- Work directly with company's CPA to prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, assist with tax preparation and more.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader with a strong background in accounting principles such as IFRS, GAAP, SOX compliance, and governmental accounting standards.
- Extensive knowledge of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, debits & credits, account analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis using advanced accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar tools.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a high level of financial acumen; ability to interpret complex data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Experience with Ideal Computer Systems is a plus.
- Candidate must be extremely organized and punctual.
Work Hours: Monday thru Friday, 7:50AM to 5:00PM.
