Financial Controller

We are a Canadian company seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Duties

• Manage and oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing using advanced financial software Quickbooks and ADP
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
• Lead the preparation of accurate financial statements, reports, and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders
• Perform balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and month-end/year-end closing processes to maintain precise financial records.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support organizational planning and decision-making.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
• Maintain strong internal controls by implementing policies for double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and audit readiness.
• Oversee cash management activities including forecasting cash flow needs and managing banking relationships.
• Support external audits by providing documentation related to regulatory reporting and internal controls; facilitate audit processes efficiently.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online
• Strong technical accounting skills
• Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and account reconciliation processes.
• Strong understanding of cash management strategies including forecasting and liquidity management.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data into clear insights for stakeholders.
• Knowledge of payroll processing systems along with accounts payable/receivable workflows.
• Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills; capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
• Public accounting experience considered an asset.
• CPA designation considered an asset.
