The Role

We are looking for a Controller to own the full financial management of Franklin Feed. This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership across financial reporting, budgeting and analysis, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger for our Feed, Hardware, and Pet Store operations. You will work closely with our leadership team and external accountants, and your insight will directly shape how the business runs.

This role goes beyond the numbers. You will lead, coach, and develop our Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Customer Service teams, and take the lead on hiring and onboarding new team members. What You Will Do

Financial Reporting and Accounting

• Own the general ledger and month-end close across all business lines, including reconciliations, accruals, and GAAP-compliant entries
• Prepare monthly financial statements and present results to leadership with clear variance commentary
• Resolve discrepancies and cost variances, and serve as the primary contact for external accountants at year-end and tax time

Budgeting and Financial Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting process and maintain forecasts for Feed, Storage and Logistics, and Pet Store operations
• Analyze results against budget, monitor margins and cash flow, and investigate and explain anomalies to leadership
• Build KPI reporting and maintain strong internal controls that safeguard company assets

Team Leadership and Coaching

• Supervise the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Customer Service teams
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, clear goals, and performance reviews
• Build a positive, collaborative culture with cross-training so coverage never misses a beat

People and Operations

• Process payroll and administer benefits accurately and on time
• Coordinate hiring and onboarding for new team members
• Provide knowledgeable backup for AR, AP, grain accounting, invoicing, and customer service when needed

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business is preferred
• Solid experience as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller; experience in agriculture is a plus
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis
• Previous experience supervising, coaching, and developing team members
• Experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits
• CPA or CMA designation is a plus
• Experience with general ledger software; familiarity with Agris is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities without dropping the ball

Pay: $78,000.00 - $94,000.00 per year
