Financial Controller

Position Overview

Pasadena Yacht & Country Club is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead the Club’s accounting and financial operations. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and accounting functions while supporting leadership in making informed business decisions. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a private country club environment and a strong understanding of member-based accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Prepare and present timely and accurate monthly financial statements and supporting reports
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Maintain and enforce strong internal controls and accounting procedures
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial planning
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, including training and performance management
  • Ensure accurate and timely member billing and financial reporting
  • Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors and tax professionals
  • Monitor capital projects, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, policies, and club bylaws
  • Partner with department heads to analyze financial performance and improve operational efficiency
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to the General Manager

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA preferred)
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership responsibility
  • Prior experience in a private country club or hospitality environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with Jonas Club Software is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices
  • Proven leadership, team development, and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
