Are you a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with numbers and building strong working relationships? Join the SDSU Academic Shared Service Center (ASSC) as a Financial Program Assistant, where you’ll support the financial operations of academic and research units through accurate fiscal analysis, budgeting, and accounting services. This role works closely with department heads, directors, and the ASSC Director to provide timely, professional, and customer-focused support that advances the instructional, research, and service goals of the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Education & Human Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, and Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with department heads, directors, and the ASSC Director to perform fiscal analysis, budgeting, and accounting for assigned academic and research units.
  • Deliver timely, professional financial services that support the instructional, research, and service missions of units served.
  • Provide excellent customer service through responsive, accurate, and solution-oriented support.
  • Maintain effective working relationships and frequent communication with unit leaders to ensure financial needs are understood and addressed.

  • Budget and reporting practices
  • Finance and accounting practices.
  • Computer software applications and systems (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Database development and maintenance
Skill & Ability to:
  • Interpret, comprehend, and apply laws, rules and regulations for institution, state, federal and a variety of funding agencies.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data.
  • Provide high level of accuracy with attention to detail.
  • Prioritize projects to meet competing deadlines.
  • Maintain effective working relationships.
  • Communicate information clearly, concisely, and accurately.
