Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise daily activities of workshop technicians and maintenance staff.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure maintenance schedules are met.
  • Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and safety instructions to the team.
  • Maintain discipline, teamwork, and efficiency within the workshop.

2. Maintenance and Repair

  • Oversee inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire protection and firefighting equipment such as:
  • Fire extinguishers (CO₂, dry chemical, foam, etc.)
  • Fire hoses, nozzles, and couplings
  • Breathing apparatus (SCBA sets)
  • Fire pumps, hydrants, and alarm systems
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Diagnose equipment faults and determine corrective actions.

3. Quality Control and Safety

  • Conduct regular quality checks on maintenance and repair work.
  • Ensure all workshop activities comply with fire safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate calibration and testing of firefighting equipment.
  • Keep detailed maintenance and inspection records for compliance and audits.

4. Inventory and Resource Management

  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Request and control stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of fire equipment and materials.

5. Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare maintenance logs, service reports, and inspection certificates.
  • Track service history for all fire equipment.
  • Report workshop performance, maintenance trends, and equipment condition to management.

6. Compliance and Standards

  • Ensure all work meets international and local fire safety standards (e.g., NFPA, BS, ISO).
  • Keep updated with latest fire protection technologies and maintenance practices.
  • Support internal and external audits or inspections from safety authorities.

7. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce workshop safety rules and use of PPE.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Report and investigate any accidents, near misses, or unsafe practices.

8. Coordination and Communication

  • Liaise with clients, safety officers, and fire authorities regarding equipment servicing.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics for parts and materials.
  • Schedule field servicing teams and ensure timely completion of external maintenance jobs.
