Firefighter / EMT Trainee

Job Summary

The City of Maryville Fire Department is accepting applications for Firefighter / EMT -Trainee. Firefighters work a 24-hour shift every third day. Experience is not required. We offer an established training and career development program and an on-site modern training facility.

Starting Salary (Full-time): $46,074

5% salary increase upon obtaining FF1 and EMT certifications.

Responsibilities include

• Performs general firefighting, emergency medical and vehicle rescue activities.
• Attend training classes for technical rescue operations.
• Attends in-service training classes.
• Performs equipment, hydrant and fire house testing and maintenance.
• Performs various public services.

Requirements

• Must obtain Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification within 18 months of hire.
• Must obtain Firefighter I certification within eighteen months of hire.
• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of Tennessee.
• Because the City of Maryville has adopted the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement Services Public Safety Supplemental (Bridge) benefit and a mandatory retirement age policy consistent with Tennessee law, sworn police officers or fire fighters must retire at age 60.
