Summary: The Fitness Center Attendant plays a key role in welcoming members to the Albany Jewish Community Center. The Fitness Center Attendant is responsible for supervising the fitness floor during their shift, being responsive to members and guests by helping, and educating JCC members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Greet each member by name and ask if they need assistance.

  • Assist and address all member questions/concerns

  • Assist members with equipment

  • Schedule Health and Wellness Orientations

  • Sell personal training packages

  • Enforce policies and rules with tact and diplomacy

  • Keep accurate records and reports as requested/required

  • Clean equipment and keep Center tidy (check paper towel dispensers, spray bottles, etc)

  • Keep weights and equipment neat and orderly

  • Sweep floors

  • Conduct regular locker room checks

  • Log broken equipment as required

  • Conduct audio and equipment checks every shift

  • Provide breaks to Welcome Desk Staff and conduct new member tours

  • Other duties as assigned by the Fitness Center Manager or Director of Member Engagement

Other job functions:

  • Serve as a knowledgeable and responsible information source to all members.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.

  • Attend all staff and training meetings.

  • Market future programs to members in Health and Wellness Department.

  • Attend all scheduled shifts on time and appropriately attired

  • Adhere to all facility rules and policies

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ years old

  • Current CPR/AED and first aid certification preferred

  • Willingness to carry out the mission of the Albany JCC

  • Have leadership capabilities and be detailed oriented

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to respond to calls, texts and/or emails in a timely manner

  • Ability to work independently and utilize initiative

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate all fitness equipment and entertainment options on equipment

  • Computer experience, ability to learn and utilize various software and/or technology.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bending
