Fleet Officer

Job Purpose

To manage and oversee the company’s fleet of heavy trucks and trailers, ensuring compliance, maintenance, and efficient traffic operations.

The role is responsible for vehicle licensing, fleet condition, and coordinating transport activities including port operations and route planning.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management & Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance and servicing of heavy trucks and trailers to ensure

operational readiness.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and manage breakdown/repair activities.
  • Maintain vehicle service records, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise with external workshops and service providers for repairs and maintenance

contracts.

Licensing & Compliance

  • Ensure timely renewal of all vehicle registrations, permits, and licenses.
  • Monitor compliance with UAE traffic laws and transport regulations.
  • Manage insurance renewals and documentation for all fleet vehicles.

Traffic & Transport Coordination

  • Manage daily fleet movements and ensure smooth traffic operations.
  • Coordinate with the shipping department to plan trailer routes and optimize delivery

schedules.

  • Arrange dispatch of drivers to ports for container collection and ensure timely

turnaround.

  • Monitor route efficiency and implement improvements to reduce delays and costs.

Driver Supervision

  • Supervise and manage drivers’ daily activities and assignments.
  • Ensure drivers comply with safety standards, traffic laws, and company policies.
  • Monitor driver performance, attendance, and conduct.
  • Coordinate driver schedules, shifts, and leave planning.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate with internal departments (shipping, warehouse, procurement) to support

logistics operations.

  • Address operational issues such as delays, breakdowns, or route disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate reports on fleet utilization, maintenance costs, and traffic

performance.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations (heavy vehicles

preferred)

  • Experience in UAE transport regulations and licensing procedures

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of heavy truck and trailer maintenance
  • Understanding of UAE traffic laws and fleet compliance
  • Route planning and logistics coordination skills
  • Leadership and team supervision ability
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good communication and organizational skills
