We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Freight Broker to act as the liaison between shippers and carriers . The Freight Broker will arrange and manage the transport of goods — negotiating rates, coordinating shipments, tracking freight, and ensuring timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and onboard suitable carriers to meet customer shipment requirements.
- Source new shipper clients — solicit business, generate leads, and grow the customer base.
- Negotiate freight rates and service agreements with carriers (and possibly with shippers) to ensure competitive yet profitable pricing.
- Coordinate and schedule shipments: book loads, set up pickups/deliveries, monitor freight movement, and track shipments until delivery.
- Handle all documentation and compliance: prepare bills of lading (BOL), shipping documents, customs paperwork (for international shipments if applicable), insurance papers, and ensure adherence to regulatory/transportation standards.
- Maintain effective communication with shippers, carriers and internal stakeholders; provide shipment updates, manage expectations, and resolve issues arising during transit (e.g. delays, damages, route changes).
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior experience in freight brokerage— preferably 6Months–3 years .
- Strong negotiation skills — able to strike a balance between competitive service rates for clients and profitable rates for carriers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — to liaise with shippers, carriers, and internal teams effectively.
- Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, handle multiple shipments concurrently, and manage documentation accurately under tight deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills — to handle delays, route changes, unexpected issues, and client concerns proactively.
