About Us

Shahbaz & Associates CPAs is a fast-growing accounting and advisory firm based in Northern Virginia specializing in tax, accounting, and CFO services for small to mid-sized businesses in industries such as real estate, construction, healthcare, and professional services. We are looking for a Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join our team to manage day-to-day accounting operations, client books, and internal billing with precision and ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients, including recording transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and posting journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow).
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable — including vendor management, client invoicing, and payment application.
  • Process and track client billing, prepare monthly invoices, and assist in collections when needed.
  • Review and clean up existing client books to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage QuickBooks Online (QBO) across multiple client accounts and ensure all bank feeds are properly categorized.
  • Support CPA review and year-end adjustments for tax preparation and financial reporting.
  • Assist with payroll entries, sales tax filings, and other compliance tasks as needed.
  • Identify process improvements and implement efficient bookkeeping workflows.
  • Communicate directly with clients in a professional and proactive manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting or multi-client environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (certification preferred).
  • Solid understanding of accrual accounting, A/P, A/R, and account reconciliation.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and working with CPAs.
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in construction, real estate, or professional service industries.
  • Familiarity with Gusto, Dext, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Basic understanding of tax concepts or collaboration with tax professionals.
