General Accountant – Shipping Industry

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced General Accountant to join our team in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling accounting functions across a group of companies involved in shipping activities, including vessel owners and charterers.

The ideal candidate will be a certified accounting professional with strong knowledge of accounting principles and hands-on experience within the shipping or maritime industry. This role requires excellent analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage financial records efficiently in a dynamic, multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage general ledgers and financial records across multiple group entities
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, accounting standards, and company policies
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits
• Manage documentation related to shipping transactions, including chartering activities, invoices, and operational costs
• Support accounting processes related to vessel ownership and chartering operations

Requirements

• Certified Accountant (ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred)
• Proven experience in a shipping or maritime company is highly preferred
• Experience working with group companies or multi-entity structures is an advantage
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Familiarity with 1C Enterprise is an advantage
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with shipping operations accounting, freight invoicing, or port-related transactions
• Knowledge of accounting for vessel owners and charterers
• Knowledge of international trade or maritime financial processes
• Proficiency in Russian is a plus
