General Ledger (GL) Accounting Manager

Overview

Location: Chapel Hill, NC (onsite; relocating to Timberlake, NC mid-year)
Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

We are seeking an experienced General Ledger (GL) Accounting Manager to lead our general ledger operations, financial reporting, and month‑end close processes. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial data while supporting a growing, multi‑entity organization.

As we continue to scale—including preparation for potential IPO readiness—you will play a key role in strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, modernizing systems, and building a high‑performing accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and eliminations
  • Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and capital projects
  • Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead treasury, accounts receivable, and accounts payable activities
  • Prepare timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Support consolidated reporting across multi‑entity operations
  • Assist with management and board‑level reporting packages
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Support SOX‑compliant process implementation (if applicable)
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
  • Strengthen internal controls and documentation
  • Identify and resolve control gaps
  • Maintain General Ledger structure within the ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Drive automation, accuracy, and reporting improvements
  • Standardize and enhance close procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Proven experience managing full‑cycle month‑end close
  • Proficiency with SAP or other ERP systems
  • CPA (active or in progress)
