Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a General Manager at the Dahej Plant. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations at the plant, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, managing budgets, developing and implementing operational strategies, and leading a team of professionals to achieve production targets. This role also involves liaising with the corporate office in Thane, Maharashtra, India.

Key Responsibilities



1. Operational Leadership


  • Lead day-to-day plant operations to ensure production plans are met safely, efficiently, and within quality norms.
  • Monitor utilization of raw materials, utilities, and manpower for maximum cost efficiency.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between production, maintenance, QC, EHS, and logistics.
  • Review daily production reports and initiate corrective actions in case of deviations.



2. Project & Engineering Oversight


  • Oversee execution of all engineering and project activities — new installations, expansions, and modifications.
  • Coordinate with Mumbai’s technical and project teams to ensure alignment on design, procurement, and commissioning timelines.
  • Drive improvement initiatives in process optimization, yield, and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance systems are in place and implemented effectively.



3. Team Management & Performance Review


  • Provide leadership and mentorship to functional heads across production, maintenance, QC, and EHS.
  • Conduct structured weekly and monthly performance reviews against KPIs and plant goals.
  • Build accountability and ownership within the team for output, discipline, and safety.
  • Identify training needs and develop team competency for sustained performance.



4. Safety, Quality & Compliance


  • Ensure strict adherence to statutory and regulatory norms (GPCB, PESO, Factory Act, etc.).
  • Lead the implementation of EHS standards, audits, and risk mitigation practices.
  • Promote zero-incident culture and continuous safety awareness.
  • Maintain quality systems to meet internal and customer-specific specifications.



5. Coordination with Head Office


  • Liaise with the Mumbai head office for production planning, purchase coordination, and manpower approvals.
  • Escalate technical or process issues requiring support and ensure quick resolution.
  • Provide timely MIS on production, maintenance, and project progress to senior management.



6. Strategic Initiatives


  • Participate in budgeting and cost-control exercises.
  • Recommend capital investments and improvement projects with ROI justification.
  • Contribute to long-term planning of plant capacity, technology upgradation, and resource planning.


Desired Candidate Profile


  • B.E./B.Tech in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
  • 12–20 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in intermediates or specialty chemicals.
  • Proven track record of leading plant operations with measurable results in productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Strong technical understanding of unit operations, utilities, and project management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of EHS and statutory compliance applicable to chemical industries
