Job Specific Accountabilities :

Strategy and Portfolio

Develop and implement the strategic R&D agenda in alignment with sectoral priorities, national needs, and the organization overarching strategy.
Define and oversee key R&D focus areas, ensuring balance between fundamental, applid, and translational research.
Establish governance policies, operational frameworks, and performance metrics for effective planning and execution.
Ensure continuous alignment of the organization’s portfolio with emerging technologies, national challenges, and global scientific trends.

Research Projects Management

Oversee research projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards.
Facilitate collaboration and integration across research teams to maximize impact and efficiency.
Ensure that research outcomes address critical national priorities and contribute to scientific excellence.
Drive the translation of research findings into innovative solutions and real-world applications.

Research Output and Scientific Presence

Promote high-impact research by ensuring quality scientific publications, reports, patents, and technical documentation.
Strengthen the institute’s global scientific presence through conferences, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
Encourage open science practices, knowledge dissemination, and alignment of research outputs with measurable national outcomes.
Engage with governmental, industrial, and academic stakeholders to build collaborative R&D initiatives.

Prototyping, Technology Development and Commercialization

Oversee prototyping, piloting, testing, and validation of R&D outputs to enhance commercialization readiness.
Collaborate with the Commercialization & Technology Transfer function to assess market impact and accelerate innovation adoption.
Foster industry partnerships, co-design accelerators, and innovation challenges to fast-track high-impact technologies.
Promote intellectual property protection and the creation of spin-offs, start-ups, and licensing opportunities.

Collaborative Research and Scientific Advisory

Position the organization as a trusted scientific advisor for government entities, industry leaders and academic institutions.
Build global and local collaborations with universities, research labs, health science centers, and industry partners.
Lead scientific consultations with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the institute’s reputation and influence.
Represent the organization in international forums to strengthen visibility and scientific diplomacy.

Workforce Development and Knowledge Transfer

Identify, attract, and retain top scientific talent through partnerships with the leading academic institutions.
Oversee structured professional development, mentoring, and fellowship programs to ensure a continuous pipeline of skilled researchers.
Promote knowledge transfer, dissemination, and application of research findings to maximize societal and economic impact.
