The Marketing and Communications Department (MarCom) at the University of Lynchburg is seeking a graphic designer who can design and prepare University publications for printing. Also develop and implement digital design solutions for a variety of on-campus clients that meet University marketing strategies and brand standards. This position will work alongside other creative professionals in the Office of Marketing and Communications, playing a critical role in developing compelling communications and ensuring compliance with University brand standards. The Graphic Designer at the University of Lynchburg's Marketing and Communications Department will collaborate with a team of creative professionals to develop and implement innovative digital and print design solutions for a diverse range of on-campus clients. This role is essential in maintaining brand consistency across all University communications while supporting University marketing strategies. Key responsibilities include designing and preparing University publications for print and ensuring compliance with University brand standards.

JOB PURPOSE:

To design and prepare University publications for printing. Also develop and implement digital design solutions for a variety of on-campus clients that meet University marketing strategies and brand standards. This position will work alongside other creative professionals in the Office of Marketing and Communications, playing a critical role in developing compelling communications and ensuring compliance with University brand standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:(Please describe)

  • Create and design materials for print publication and digital collateral
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Work with vendors to provide technical information needed in bid process; oversees production of printed matter from design idea through to delivery of printed pieces; assesses quality of printed materials.

ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:(Please describe)

Ability to perform multiple tasks and keep deadlines with minimum supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and campus departments. Good reading and writing skills for responding accurately to inquiries and correspondence with vendors when necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The functions of this position are usually performed sitting, but may involve some amount of time walking. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, or carrying may be required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated experience with Adobe Creative Suite, typing, proofreading, knowledge of pre-press and printing procedures and language, familiarity with a variety of printing papers, design skills, office procedures and communication skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in graphic design or art and related work experience preferred.
