Graphic Designer/Production Artist

A well written and designed résumé—with minimal typos—will help to set you apart from other candidates. Be sure to provide a link to your portfolio or samples of your design work. Ideally, we want to see samples that are relevant to what might be produced in a print shop, such as: business stationery, flyers, brochures, marketing collateral, signage, etc.

Minuteman Press Hudson, a fast-paced, deadline driven print shop looking for a Graphic Designer/Production Artist/Digital Print Specialist to add to our team. “Minute” is in our name…our clients expect speed, accuracy and quality…and we do our best to reasonably meet their expectations!

Schedule: PartTime, flexible hours betwee 8:30 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, onsite (this is NOT a remote position)

Education/Experience:
A degree in design is not necessary, in the printshop we realize that job experience is valuable. If you have the experience, knowledge and skills needed to accomplish the job, we are interested in you! That being said, we need you to be able to hit the ground running, you MUST have skills using the below mentioned software.

Software Knowledge:
Adobe Creative Suite: including Illustrator (strong), InDesign (strong), Acrobat (strong), Photoshop (basic)

Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Canva – We do not design in these programs, but many clients provide files in these formats, so a basic working knowledge of these programs is a important.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
While there are many opportunities in our shop to show your Graphic Design skills, your role in our shop would be more Production Artist and Digital Print Specialist than a traditional "Graphic Designer" role. Our art department staff wear many hats, so be prepared to be flexible and never bored!

Preparing and printing of digital files, checking fonts, links, and colors, creating bleeds, crops, and imposing art when required.

Reviewing job specifications from work orders and ensuring that client files are accurate and the finished job exceeds customer expectations.

This position will require you to run our Konica digital presses and Canon wide format printer—knowledge of digital print process is a plus!

This position will require you to prepare and produce plates for offset printing, a knowledge of prepress for press printing and color separation is helpful.

Must know basic math and how to use a ruler.

We need you to possess the following:
Basic troubleshooting skills / quick learner / self-motivated / ability to multi-task and transition quickly from one project to another / able to transition back to work after being interrupted.

Must be able to work courteously with clients on print projects. Communication with clients will occur via email, phone, and in-store face-to-face consultations.

We produce vinyl decals at our sister location in Oakdale, so there is the opportunity to install vinyl decals should that be of interest to you. You already have this skill? Another plus!

Occasional help with bindery and finishing.

Occasional customer service via answering of phone & assisting of clients at front counter.
