Job Summary
As a GST Accountant, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, including computation, filing, and managing litigations and notices. This role requires a proactive professional with hands-on experience in GST processes within a CA firm. You will work closely with senior accountants and partners to ensure seamless client service and adherence to statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- GST Computation and Filing: Accurately compute GST liabilities, prepare, and file various GST returns (e.g., GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C) for clients within stipulated deadlines. Ensure proper reconciliation of input tax credit (ITC) and maintain compliance with GST regulations.
- GST Litigations and Notices: Handle GST-related notices, assessments, and litigations. Prepare and submit responses to notices issued by GST authorities, represent clients during assessments, and coordinate with legal teams when required.
- GST Compliance: Conduct reconciliations between GSTR-2A/2B and books of accounts, verify ITC claims, and ensure compliance with reverse charge mechanism (RCM) and other GST provisions.
- Client Support: Address client queries related to GST, provide advisory on GST implications for business transactions, and assist in GST registration and cancellation processes.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of GST transactions, filings, and correspondence with authorities for audit purposes.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in GST laws, notifications, and circulars to ensure clients receive accurate and up-to-date advice.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to support audits, financial reporting, and other taxation tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification: B.Com degree or CA Dropout (preferably CA Intermediate/IPCC level).
- Experience: 3-4 years of relevant experience in a CA firm, specifically handling GST computation, filing, and litigation.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in GST portal operations, accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks), and MS Excel (advanced functions, VLOOKUP, pivots).
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of GST laws, rules, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate computation and reconciliation.
- Ability to handle GST notices and litigations with confidence and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and GST authorities.
- Time management skills to meet strict filing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
