Key Responsibilities for Head Accountant.
GST and Tax Compliance:
- Manage and file all Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and annual returns (GSTR-9).
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of the company's books of accounts with GSTR-2A/2B data to maximize Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims.
- Handle all aspects of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Tax Collected at Source (TCS) compliance, including deduction, deposit, and return filing.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in GST and other tax regulations to ensure continuous compliance.
Credit and Debit Management:
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), performing timely reconciliations of vendor and customer ledgers along with Billing & Accounts Team.
- Issue and reconcile credit and debit notes in compliance with GST regulations along with Billing & Accounts Team..
- Oversee bank and other account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial transactions along with Banking Team.
Manufacturing Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Manage cost accounting and inventory accounting.
- Handle day-to-day accounting records and maintain the general ledger.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements along with CA / Account Team.
- Perform variance analysis to identify discrepancies and advise senior management.
Audit and Internal Controls:
- Coordinate and assist with internal, external, and GST audits.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal financial controls.
Team and Operations Management:
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff and delegate tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and ensure financial data accuracy across departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (CA, CMA) is a plus.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role within the Services / Manufacturing industry.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proven expertise in managing all aspects of GST, TDS, and TCS compliance.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial reporting standards.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software such as ZOHO (Preferred) , Tally, ERP, SAP, or similar ERP systems .
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and Vlookups.
Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with internal teams and external auditors.
- Should Be Capable in Working with & Growing the Team with the Growth of the Organization.
