The post holder will always work within the scope of practice, put the health, wellbeing and safety of their patient
first as they assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.
- Ensure and oversee the care that is delivered to all patients in the unit is safe, appropriate and effective.
- Determine nursing interventions based on assessment data.
- Prioritizes identified needs.
- Implement nursing actions and evaluates patient outcomes.
- Develops or revises the plan of care
- Deliver identified patient needs.
- Co-ordinate the overall clinical activities of the unit when assigned to the charge nurse role.
- Collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor on staffing for a particular shift.
- Plan, implement and evaluate clinical programs.
- Evaluate the ability of the patient and the patient’s bystanders to understand and participate in decisions
about their care.
- Facilitate patient education.
- Maintain accurate and real-time clinical records.
- Perform advanced or specialized nursing skills competently.
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical nursing practice.
- Act as a clinical resource for staff within the department/unit.
- Communicate and consult with other health care disciplines.
- Represent nursing at multidisciplinary rounds.
- Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life
Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation etc.
- Participate in the development of standards, procedures and protocols.
- Facilitate evidence-based practice.
- Promote change in nursing practice when required.
- Take a proactive role under the guidance of Nursing Management/Nursing Education in training, education
and CQI activities of nursing staff.
- Promote a safe learning environment.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her scope and ability.
Essential: the post holder must
- Have evidenced experience in managing teams
- Be able to influence and implement change when necessary
- Be able to make decisions and communicate effectively
- Have an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with
all the qualifications and experience these mandates.
- Manage their own professional re-licensure.
- Have valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written)
DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:
- Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team
- Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the electronic medical record platform for clinical
documentation
- Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
