Position Summary:
The Head of Accounts will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company. This includes supervising the accounts team, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, managing financial records, and preparing reports. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and be able to lead the team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Team Management: Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team, ensuring they meet deadlines, deliver high-quality work, and adhere to company policies.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Ensure proper and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions, including managing vendor relationships and customer collections.
- General Ledger: Ensure proper maintenance of the general ledger by reviewing journal entries and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reconciliations: Manage and oversee all bank reconciliations, accounts reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Month-End Close: Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including the review of trial balances, adjustments, and reports to ensure accuracy.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax filings, statutory reporting requirements, and other legal obligations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, and track performance against the set financial goals.
- Audit Coordination: Assist in the coordination and support of internal and external audits, providing all required documentation and information.
- Taxation: Oversee and ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other relevant government compliance requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the accounting functions and implement best practices to optimize workflows.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for business decisions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS), financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration, growth, and productivity.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
