We are seeking a Head of Bid Estimating Department to lead and enhance the company’s bidding and cost estimation functions. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, competitiveness, and efficiency of all tendering processes across projects. You will oversee a growing estimating team, drive strategic process improvements, and collaborate closely with leadership and technical departments. The position is remote and requires a high level of autonomy, strategic thinking, and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and develop a bid estimating team.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support long-term strategic initiatives, including building and improving bid processes.
  • Manage the end-to-end bidding process, including pre-bid analysis, scope definition, estimation, pricing strategy, communication with partners and potential clients, preparation and submission of tender documentation, and monitoring bid outcomes.
  • Lead the estimation of project costs, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and reliability.
  • Work closely with the engineering, supply chain, and delivery teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and feasibility.
  • Partner with business development and engineering teams to understand client needs and develop competitive proposals.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with project estimates and bids.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine bidding and estimation processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes affecting project costs and bidding strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams (2+ members).
  • Solid experience in bidding, estimating, or project management within the construction industry.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience in the U.S. tender/bidding market (preferably within construction or related sectors).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project cost estimation techniques, tools, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with estimating and bid management platforms and software, such as ConstructConnect.com, Procore, Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal business outcomes.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives that support business growth and efficiency.
  • Degree in engineering or a related technical field
