The Head of Human Resources in the retail sector is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support the organization’s retail operations, store network, and business objectives. The role ensures the company attracts, retains, and develops skilled retail staff while maintaining high standards of employee engagement, compliance, and performance across all store locations.

Key Responsibilities1. Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with retail operations and business growth plans.
  • Partner with senior management to design and deliver HR initiatives that enhance productivity and service quality.
  • Lead organizational development, succession planning, and workforce optimization efforts.

2. Talent Acquisition and Staffing

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment for both store and head office positions.
  • Develop talent pipelines for critical retail roles (store managers, sales associates, cashiers, supervisors).
  • Manage seasonal and promotional staffing requirements to support business peaks.

3. Performance Management

  • Implement a performance management framework tailored to retail KPIs such as sales targets, customer service, and operational efficiency.
  • Support line managers in goal-setting, performance evaluations, and staff coaching.
  • Recognize and reward top-performing employees to boost retention.

4. Learning and Development

  • Design and execute training programs focused on sales techniques, customer experience, and leadership development.
  • Develop store-level onboarding and continuous training to maintain consistent service standards.
  • Build a culture of learning and career progression within the retail teams.

5. Compensation and Benefits

  • Develop and manage competitive salary structures for retail staff and management.
  • Oversee payroll, incentives, and commission schemes aligned with sales performance.
  • Benchmark compensation packages within the retail industry to ensure competitiveness.

6. Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture across all stores.
  • Manage employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary procedures with fairness and compliance.
  • Implement engagement programs to enhance morale and reduce turnover.

7. HR Operations and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety standards, and retail industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR metrics for decision-making.
  • Optimize HR processes and HRIS to support multi-location operations.

8. Retail Workforce Planning

  • Work with store and area managers to forecast manpower needs based on sales projections and store expansion plans.
  • Manage workforce scheduling to balance labor costs with business demand.
  • Support store openings, closures, and restructuring initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8–10 years of HR experience with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role in the retail sector.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, HR policies, labor regulations, and employee engagement practices.
  • Proven experience in managing large, distributed retail workforces.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: QAR10,000.00 - QAR15,000.00 per month
