Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Projects to lead our project governance function and manage a portfolio of complex software development projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in large-scale project delivery, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain high-impact relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
This role requires someone who not only manages major strategic projects personally but also oversees a team of project managers handling multiple concurrent engagements across private and public sector clients. The individual must operate with authority, inspire confidence, and consistently drive execution excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & PMO Management
- Lead the PMO function and manage a team of project managers overseeing multiple software development projects.
- Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, processes, and tools across the organization.
- Monitor project performance, ensure adherence to timelines and budgets, and drive corrective actions where necessary.
- Provide executive-level reporting on project portfolio status, risks, issues, and mitigation plans.
Project Delivery
- Personally lead and execute high-impact, complex projects from initiation to closure.
- Ensure delivery quality, resource alignment, change management, and project governance for all assigned projects.
- Drive resolution of critical issues and ensure that teams remain aligned with overall business objectives.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with customer stakeholders, especially senior leadership within private and public sector organizations.
- Establish yourself as a reliable authority who can “get things done” and drive outcomes in complex stakeholder environments.
- Proactively identify customer needs, manage expectations, and represent the organization with professionalism and credibility during all interactions.
Internal Stakeholder Collaboration
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, including development, QA, design, architecture, HR, finance, and operations.
- Facilitate seamless coordination among cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Act as a central escalation point for internal and external stakeholders.
Governance, Risk & Quality Assurance
- Implement best practices in risk management, quality assurance, and project documentation.
- Ensure all projects adhere to compliance, audit, and governance requirements.
- Promote continuous improvement in project delivery processes.
Travel Requirements
- Regular local travel is required to visit customer offices and manage on-site project needs.
Required Skills:
- 12 years of demonstrated success in managing software development projects, with at least 2+ years leading or managing a PMO or project teams.
- Strong command of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Proven experience engaging with senior customer stakeholders in both private and public sector environments.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Formal project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification) is a strong advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum: 12 years
- Preferred: 15 years
