Head of UI Development

We’re looking for a Head of UI to lead our user interface engineering/technology practice, someone who has strong front-end technical expertise with people leadership and delivery ownership.

You’ll guide a team of UI developers working across web, mobile, and enterprise platforms while ensuring high-quality, accessible, and scalable user experiences. This role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on technical leadership. You’ll collaborate closely with Graphic Design, Business, and Development teams to turn complex requirements into elegant and performant interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of UI developers in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
• Manage team workload, feature roadmap planning for different projects, and resource coordination.
• Maintain visibility into project roadmap objectives and communicate progress with stakeholders and leadership.
• Support the career growth of team members through mentorship and technical coaching.
• Provide technical leadership in front-end architecture, UI engineering best practices, and performance optimization.
• Advocate for UX consistency, accessibility, and empathy for the end user.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and Graphic Designers to define UI solution approaches.
• Ensure implementation of accessibility standards (WCAG), internationalization (i18n), and responsive design principles.
• Maintain and improve UI engineering standards, reusable component libraries, and design systems.
• Assist the team through hands-on coding and code reviews when needed.
• Have fun solving complex problems while balancing multiple high-priority initiatives.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
• Experience with modern CSS frameworks and UI libraries such as Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, and Material UI.
• Familiarity with React, Next.js, and Angular
• Experience building scalable UI architectures and reusable component libraries
• Strong understanding of state management, performance optimization, and cross-browser compatibility
• Experience implementing responsive and mobile-first design
• Strong knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
• Experience ensuring compatibility with keyboard navigation, screen readers, and assistive technologies
• Experience with CMS platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, and Umbraco (.NET).
• Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Experience in improving and monitoring Core Web Vitals and overall front-end performance.
• Strong understanding of technical SEO principles.
• Good understanding of cloud technologies and SaaS-based architectures
• Experience with UI testing frameworks and performance monitoring
• Strong understanding of UI security best practices
• Version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
